IHeartRadio Music Festival - Iheartradio Music Festival

The iHeartRadio Music Festival is a two-day festival held each September since 2011 by iHeartRadio in Paradise, Nevada. From 2011 to 2015, the festival was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, with the Las Vegas Village outdoor venue added in 2013. The 2016 event will be held at the T-Mobile Arena. The 2011 edition was broadcast by VH1, while every edition since 2012 has been broadcast by The CW. The shows get subsequent replays on Palladia.

The two-day festival was expanded in 2013 with the addition of the iHeartRadio "village", a separate event free to attend for those who won tickets to the main event or available for separate purchase. According to Billboard, the main festival "showcases some of the most well-established artists in the genre" while the village showcases newer, rising acts. In 2013, the magazine wrote that the festival had "quickly established itself as a home to every major artist."

Press coverage

Entertainment Weekly in its review of the inaugural festival called out the rotating stage as a mechanism that kept the show on schedule, noting that the festival "was all about instant gratification" with a general focus on radio hits. In 2012, the angry departure of singer Billie Joe Armstrong from the stage after organizers ended the Green Day set prematurely prompted coverage by news outlets such as Billboard, MTV, Fuse and Huffington Post. The year was also noted for a number of duets, including when unexpected performer Prince joined Mary J. Blige for two numbers, when P!nk sang "Just A Girl" with No Doubt, and when Swedish House Mafia teamed up with Usher in performing their song "Euphoria". In 2014, Billboard commented on the recent radio successes of the performers on the Village Stage, stating that "With so many performers that had recently broken out of relative obscurity with smash singles, the iHeartRadio Village felt like a Top 40 p laylist put on shuffle." In 2014, the Associated Press noted that a few surprises had been mixed with the show's "steady dose of hits", including an appearance of the Black Eyes Peas' Will.I.Am on stage with DJ Steve Aoki and "unexpected appearances" by Alicia Keys and Jason DeRulo.

iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party

In addition to the music festival held annually every fall, iHeartRadio also coordinates a mini-festival every summer, known as the iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party, formerly known as the iHeartRadio Ultimate Pool Party until 2015. Every year since 2012, iHeartRadio has scheduled multiple acts to perform over a weekend in the summer. The first three years of the festival took place at Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, Florida on June 30, June 28-29, and June 27-28, respectively. For 2015, the event was renamed the iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party and the festival moved to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The event was held on May 30, 2015. The 2016 event returned to the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach and took place on May 21, 2016.
